Under the Tuscan Sun(set)

I left Rome to spend a few days in southern Tuscany at Vittorio’s and Alessandra’s country house before Easter. On our way to dinner with some friends, we took a little walk near a lagoon called Lungo Lago Marinai d’Italia.

I was drooling over the sunset while Vittorio and Alessandra walked briskly ahead of me, chatting with an old man on a bicycle.

Why weren’t they stopping to watch this incredible sunset?!?!?! It was a clear evening and the sun was ablaze with vibrant red and gold tones. The sky behind it was layered with various shades of pink. The sun’s reflection was glistening in the still waters of the lagoon.

I was trying to snap pictures while also trying to keep up with my friends. I couldn’t understand why they were so “whatever” about this gorgeous flaming sunset. They didn’t break stride or pause for half a second.

Was I being overdramatic? Perhaps. I really love a good sunset.

When we got in the car, I asked them if the sunset here in Tuscany is always that amazing. Vittorio responded, “Only on Thursdays, Thy. Just for you.”

Smartass!

Anyway, here is a “whatever” Tuscan sunset. Iiiiii thought it was beautiful. Vittorio thinks I’m silly.

And so I forced him and Alessandra to pose for a photo :)
