Some peeps I used to work with at The Bunny, including one of my best friends on earth, are in Thailand right now. How could I *not* fly myself out there from Vietnam for a reunion! It’ll be a quickie but it’ll be well worth it to see some old friends. And even a new one (a fellow Washingtonian!) I recently met while traveling. I’m suuuuuper excited!
It’ll be a much different experience than my visit to Thailand earlier this year.
I spent a week getting beat up in this muay thai boxing gym.
This is what my right leg looked like after my first day of training. Ouch!
Then I went gallivanting around the country with my then-sweetheart, for more adventure and romance than any two people should ever deserve to have in a lifetime.
Posing for what looks like a prom picture in Phuket
Posing for what looks like another prom picture in Phuket with an iguana
Jumping through a ring of fire on Koh Phi Phi
Learning to make Pad Thai in Chiang Mai
Eating my first cricket
Bamboo rafting on the Mae Taeng River
Making friends in the long-neck village
Trying to fit in with the ethnic minorities
Ziplining and abseiling through the jungle
Celebrating happy endings
Not farting
Riding an elephant
Recovering from a sea urchin attack on Koh Phangan
Jungle trekking to faraway beaches
Serving up the Homer Simpson island platter
Scuba diving in Koh Phi Phi (with very poor visibility, booo)
Monkey’ing around with this little dude on Koh Phi Phi
Playing with this little monkey dudette before she peed on my lap
And that just barely scratches the surface. Thailand is just way too much fun. One month was hardly enough the first time around, let alone the three days I’m about to spend there. But really, nothing beats seeing old friends again.
See you tomorrow, Bangkok and buddies!
How fun! I definitely understand your excitement about seeing old friends, especially in a great place like Thailand! I’d kill to spend just 3 days with my best friend, whom I haven’t seen in almost 2 years. Have a great few days!!!
Awww fun pictures! I can’t wait to get to the other side of the world and see what you’re seeing! Plus, you think I can find a big chomp of salty goodness like the one in the pictures with you??

@connie, it really was great to see old friends after a whole year! picked up exactly where we left off.
@lee, lol! if my email inbox is any indication, that salty goodness developed quite a fan club after this post. there’s plenty more where that came from – go to italy 😉
@florent, you must try muay thai next time! it’s painful but so empowering and so fun!
