I’m proud to call Washington my home state this Valentine’s Day.
Last month, Governor Chris Gregoire announced her support for gay marriage.
(Watch this video now if you haven’t seen it already. I just love what she has to say about her change of heart.)
And yesterday, she signed into law a same-sex marriage bill. Woo!
The law doesn’t take effect until June, and there will be some resistance until then, but there’s been widespread support and I just wanna celebrate the moment!
In August 2011, I visited the Netherlands – the first country in the world to ever legalize gay marriage 10 years ago! And wouldn’tcha know it, I just happened to be in its capital city during gay pride weekend.
Ok, I confess – it wasn’t a coincidence at all. I totally planned that in advance. And it was a celebration I will never forget!
