Fart Talk Makes Everything Better

I had a royally shitty day. It involved complications with my visa, passports, blah blah blah. In any case, it may affect the travels I have planned for later this month.

NOT cool!

This discovery was followed by a snowball of shit, which just got bigger and bigger throughout the day.

It was capped off by my attempt to find out the penalty for changing my flight itinerary. Air Asia is a budget airline that has served me well this year, but nobody was answering the customer service line. So I attempted a live chat on the internet. After a 30-minute wait, a representative came online…and then disappeared.

Ug!

Sooo frustrating. But I simply couldn’t stand to be annoyed anymore. It’d been such a difficult day. I needed to laugh. And as stupid and juvenile as it was, this is what did the trick:

Aaaand…crickets. Quite frankly, I was having a hoot. But a part of me actually thought I could get someone’s attention with this approach! Air Asia Adam was clearly not amused. Or was he even there? Where did he go? What kind of customer service is that?!

My situation was (and still is) maddening. I don’t have any answers yet from the embassy, Air Asia, or anyone else I need answers from.

But I always try to end my days on a positive note. After entertaining myself with fart humor to an imaginary Adam, I took a walk on the beach and enjoyed a beautiful, pink sunset sky. Then I splurged a whole $2.50 for a six-pack of beer, and insisted that the receptionist at my hotel join me for a drink. Lucky for me, she’s a huge fan of beer and even grabbed a couple extra cold ones from the fridge. Her friend joined us, and the three of us sat on the rooftop, drank beer and stared at the stars. Not a bad way to end an otherwise miserable day.

I’m quite pleased with myself for not letting a snowball of shit get the better of me. And all it took was a little fart talk to make it melt.

My problems still loom, but the stress is gone. Tomorrow I’m gonna wake up early to catch the sunrise at the beach, and hope that better news awaits me as the day begins. Wish me luck!
